What to Expect at Your First LASIK Consultation

Consultations are necessary prior to receiving LASIK eye surgery because your eye doctor needs to ensure that you are a good candidate for the procedure.

Basic Breakdown

To book your LASIK consultation at our Austin, TX office, please contact us directly. Once you have your appointment scheduled, be advised that if you are currently wearing contact lenses you will need to stop wearing them for at least two weeks (14 days) prior to your consultation.

During your LASIK consultation at Howerton Eye Clinic, your eye doctor will perform a few preliminary tests to certify that LASIK eye surgery is right for you. The entire LASIK consultation will generally take a little over an hour. Afterwards, your eye doctor will discuss the results of your tests, which will determine if you are a suitable candidate for LASIK surgery.

Your LASIK Consultation

At the Howerton Eye Clinic, we offer free consultations in our Austin, TX office. If you schedule a consultation with us, you will meet with one of our eye doctors one-on-one. The consultation will include a series of tests, which will provide us with images of your cornea, answer questions regarding the state of your eye, and ultimately help us determine if your are a good candidate for LASIK treatment. If you are a good candidate for LASIK, after the tests you will meet with a surgical coordinator to schedule your LASIK treatment.
