I had previous LASIK surgery in 2002 and called about enhancement. From the moment I called, all the staff was very nice and answered every question. I have to especially thank Teresa for helping me understand every aspect of my future procedures, from the pre-op testing to post-op exams. I was able to contact her with any question and she would get back with me with Dr. Howertons answer.I had a few complications due to a past abrasion on my eye and the prior center not documenting the depth of my LASIK flap, but Howerton Eye has taken excellent care of me with the appropriate options and allowing me to make my decision based on the best choice for me. I live out of the area and I am glad now and do not mind the drive for the excellent care I receive.

Laser vision correction is the way to go. Dr. Howerton did the procedure, and it is nothing to be scared about. When I viewed my tape after my procedure, I wondered when all that surgery was going on. Frankly, I saw and felt nothing. I was told to look for the little green light; I felt no discomfort, no pain. It was over in a matter of minutes— less than seven I would estimate. The next day, I awoke to the excitement of being able to read small print without glasses, which is something I have not been able to do in the last 20 years. All the staff put me at ease. Lasik Vision Correction Candidates

I had an outstanding experience with the Howerton Eye Clinic. I had been wearing contacts since I was in the second grade. My prescription was so strong that without my contacts I could not see any color on the eye chart. After Dr. Howerton’s 10 to 15 minute LASEK procedure, I could immediately read a clock on the wall in the operating room. One month after the procedure I was seeing 20/25 in both eyes. I feel no regret in having this kind of surgery done. It has been two months now and my eyes seem to have no recollection of this surgery. The staff helped me a lot in making my decision to have this complicated procedure which I didn’t know much about before coming to you with my questions. I was more than pleased with the attention I received at the Howerton Eye Clinic. I had been to other places that ran prospects though their screening like cattle through a sale barn. Howerton had extremely friendly staff that was very helpful and informative. The greatest part was the fact that I was examined by Dr. Howerton and was able to speak with him three times before surgery. Some eye centers have surgeons who fly in Friday for surgery then spend the night to stay for Saturday post-ops—then you never see them again. Howerton Eye Clinic was one of the best medical facilities I’ve ever visited. Oh, and did I mention that I now see better than 20/20 in both eyes. I had LASIK in January 2001. I followed all pre-op and post-op instructions. I had no complications or discomfort. The surgery itself is a piece of cake—there’s absolutely nothing to fear! I mean nothing! It takes a total of 10 minutes, and all you do is focus on a light! Immediately after surgery I could see that the recessed flood lamps in the ceiling had printing on them. Before surgery, my sight was considered legally blind! After the prescribed nap the day of surgery, I spent the rest of the day working on my computer and reading!

I had LASEK because my corneas were too thin for LASIK. Dr. Howerton and his staff told me—up front—that my healing process would take longer. They were correct; however, I have been more than pleased with the results of my surgery. Just one week after the procedure, I was seeing 20/25! Wow—after 30 years of corrective lenses and contacts…this was remarkable. My one recommendation to future LASEK patients is to stay home from work until BOTH temporary contacts are removed.
