Cataract and Glaucoma Specialist and LASIK Surgeon
Kyle M. Rhodes, M.D. joins the staff of the Howerton Eye Clinic in April 2009. A native of Texas, he graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science with Highest Honors and from Baylor College of Medicine. He is sitting for the boards of the American Board of Ophthalmology in early Spring 2009. He recently completed a Glaucoma Fellowship at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His postgraduate training began with an Internship at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California. Then he completed a residency in ophthalmology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California, where he was the Chief Resident.
He has been actively involved in research on topics such as Intraocular Pressure Reduction in the Untreated Fellow Eye After Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty, CRVO after Intravitreal Avastin Injection, and Glaucoma Surgical Treatment Results in a Third World Setting: Guatemala. He also has given lectures on Glaucoma Research Epidemiology, Intravitreal Triamcinolone Acetonide for Refractory Diabetic Macular Edema, and Synthesis of Alkanesulfonyl Halides for Non-Chemically Amplified 248nm Resist Formulations.
Dr. Rhodes has been honored as a Baylor College of Medicine Presidential Scholar, a Dean’s Scholar at Georgia Tech, a National Merit Scholar, and a recipient The Michael John Fink, M.D. Endowed Presidential Scholar. He has also served as a Co-President of Baylor Medical Student Ophthalmology Club.
Eye Doctor, Dr. Rhodes strongly believes in giving back to the community. He was on the staff at Camp HOPE, a summer camp for HIV positive for children in Brenham, Texas. During college, he helped build homes for the local indigent population with Habitat for Humanity. He has also worked at HOMES, a clinic that provides healthcare for the homeless in Houston, and volunteered for Tomball Regional Hospital.
Dr. Rhodes values the relationships the doctor develops with patients after multiple visits. When asked what he likes most about being a doctor, he says “I can have fun at work and enjoy everyday while having the privilege of improving the lives of others”.
